Some people interpret seeing a ruined church in dreams as a sign that Christianity will collapse or decline. But in my view, this is a mistaken interpretation. A church is essentially a place of supplication — a space where people express their pain, their cries for help, and their inner emotions; a place where the mourning of Jesus is remembered and where people weep. For this reason, seeing a ruined church does not symbolize a negative collapse, but rather the end of mourning and supplication — a sign that suffering has come to a close.
Symbolically speaking, seeing a ruined church can be understood as a positive sign: it represents the end of old sorrows and the closing of a period of lamentation, marking the beginning of an inner relief and a process of closure. It is not a message about supernatural miracles or dramatic disasters, but about spiritual transformation and healing.
To make this interpretation more concrete, consider an example. Spoiler alert: In the film The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, the main character suffers a profound injustice and goes through a brutal ordeal. At one point, he dreams of a ruined church. After this dream, he ultimately takes his revenge and finds a sense of relief. In other words, with this symbol, the period of mourning ends and a form of justice — or at least closure — is finally achieved.
